Nursing Research & Sponsored Programs Office

 

The Nursing Research & Sponsored Programs Office provides both research proposal and award support and management.

Proposal Services for Researchers

  • identification of funding opportunities;
  • application procedures;
  • budget preparation;
  • submission of applications through the university system;
  • coordinating mock reviews;
  • and providing assistance with proposal development.  

Post-award Services

  • setting up primary and sub-award spending accounts;
  • budgetary management in collaboration with the School of Nursing’s business office;
  • assistance with filing contract modifications, progress and final reports; and,
  • providing guidance in dissemination of research results, through poster development, manuscript and publication support in addition to posting research results in research newsletters, School of Nursing Dimensions newsletter and other similar mediums.

Specific Services of the Office

  1. Funding searches
  2. Form completion and submission
  3. Budget development assistance
  4. Coordination of mock reviews and formal critique
  5. Statistical and methods consultation through the Research Design and Statistics Unit
  6. Coordination of activities with the campus Research & Sponsored Programs office
  7. A comprehensive guide on SoN and campus policies and guidance for grant writing, submission and management
  8. Provision of contingency and bridge funds for research
  9. Maintenance of files on funded projects and reviews (pink sheets);
  10. Establish research initiatives with community partners
  11. Post announcements of new/current research funding opportunities
  12. Post notices of policy and procedure changes from common sponsors
  13. Dissemination of notices for proposals and abstracts
  14. Publication of a SoN research newsletter, and maintenance of on-line databases
  15. Maintenance of  biosketches and mentee lists
  16. Contribute to the maintenance of the faculty research interests survey
  17. Establish linkages with campus, UW system, and national and international information by coordinating research presentations and programs for faculty development, including research colloquia and knowledge development series
  18. Enhance opportunities for collaborative and interdisciplinary research with formal participation in the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) and work with research centers such as the Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Waisman Center
  19. Provide or coordinate research consultations among faculty and staff to health care agencies upon their request
  20. Recognize achievements in research through internal awards, formal displays and poster presentations within the SoN, and develop ongoing mechanisms to highlight research accomplishments
